in detail
March Mallow’s jazz-blues? A dreamlike vision with a velvety voice, a tribute to the passing of time and the swing of the 1940s and 1950s, when Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday sang of hope for a better future in the United States.
Whether covering vintage classics or performing their own time-worn originals, Astrid Veigne’s voice and the acoustic instruments of the musicians from the Sarthe region quickly transformed the medieval market halls of Dives-sur-Mer into a night-time jazz club.

Welcome to the medieval market halls
Walking beneath the market halls of Dives-sur-Mer is like stepping into a veritable forest of ancient oaks. This majestic structure, supported by sixty-six wooden pillars resting on stone plinths, defies the centuries with rustic elegance. Under its monumental 15th-century framework, light plays with shadows, creating an atmosphere that is both solemn and profoundly vibrant. Once a hub of medieval commerce, now the bustling heart of the market, the market halls remain a privileged witness to encounters and exchanges. Here, one breathes the scent of old wood mingled with the aromas of the local countryside, in a setting that seems never to have forgotten the passage of William the Conqueror's companions. It is a place of memory that pulsates, where each beam whispers a tale of old Normandy. The market halls of Dives-sur-Mer, listed as a Historical Monument, date from the 15th century. Measuring 50 meters in length, they are famous for their original oak frame. They house one of the most renowned markets on the coast, every Saturday morning from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

With A Journey in Time, March Mallow offered a first trip back to the 1940s and 50s: a suspended moment, gentle as spring, where one can set down one's baggage to better feel the passing emotions. For their new project, the group opens a more intimate chapter, unveiling their own compositions—including two tracks in French—while remaining true to the standards that have shaped their sound for years. Entitled The Silence, this new opus leads us into a nocturnal alley, lit by a few streetlights and the sign of a jazz club. Inside, the musicians weave a discreet melancholy, a space where swing, ballads, and blues intertwine like eras in dialogue. This journey, this time, is internal: a parenthesis to rediscover the simplicity of being together. March Mallow creates an emotional bridge, a place where music reveals what usually remains silent.
