Welcome to the Cabourg market
Just steps from the Grand Hôtel, beloved by Marcel Proust, the Cabourg market is a true institution, the vibrant heart of this seaside resort. Beneath its iconic crescent-shaped covered market hall and in the surrounding square, a veritable festival of colors and aromas unfolds each market morning. The Cabourg Market takes place year-round on Wednesday and Sunday mornings, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the covered market hall and on the Place du Marché. Numerous stalls offer fruits, vegetables, seafood, Norman cheeses, local charcuterie (such as Vire andouille sausage), dairy products, as well as clothing and handicrafts.

The true heart of the institution, the Orchestra has, since September 1, 2024, united the Normandy Regional Orchestra and the Rouen Normandy Opera Orchestra. This new ensemble brings together fifty-eight musicians deeply committed to the region and its audiences, with an boundless passion for all repertoires. Alternating between the pit for opera and the stage for symphonic works, the Orchestra explores the full spectrum of music, from Baroque to contemporary. Seeking interpretations that respect historical periods and styles, it performs the oldest scores on instruments strung with gut strings, often complemented by natural brass and adapted timpani. Its virtuosity is equally evident when it comes to supporting contemporary composers and bringing musical creation to a wider audience. The Orchestra, based in Rouen and in residence in Mondeville, presents its season throughout Normandy with over a hundred concerts spanning the region from Giverny to Cherbourg, and from Dieppe to Granville. Whether performing together, in chamber ensembles, or as soloists, their commitment to excellence remains unwavering. Deeply dedicated to young audiences and the wider sharing of music, the Orchestra offers a wide range of outreach programs across the region, in schools, hospitals, prisons, and other settings. The Orchestra also works to facilitate encounters with audiences with physical and mental disabilities, notably through Relaxation sessions and resources such as vibrating vests and audio descriptions of opera performances.
