in detail
At La Distillerie bookshop in Pont-l’Évêque, a magnificent converted building that welcomes us on our magical, musical strolls, this show based on Perrault’s tale tells a serious story for today’s children in the dim light. As the cello takes on the dreamy beauty and whispers of the forest, silhouettes and luminous images are projected onto the actress’s immense gown. A dress of gold, silver and stars, the colour of time, the colour of the moon, the colour of the sun, like a magic lantern illuminating within the princess the joy of childhood and the fear of growing up, the strength of the future and the art of metamorphosis. A musical performance on the white screen of her dark nights…

Welcome to the Distillery bookstore café
Born within the walls of a former distillery in Pont-l'Évêque, this bookstore-café is a unique place where the spirit of the past meets a passion for books. Beneath its high ceilings, amidst the wooden structures and bricks that bear witness to its industrial history, the scent of new paper now mingles with the aromas of freshly roasted coffee. It is a welcoming and vibrant haven, bathed in soft light that invites leisurely browsing among the abundant shelves. La Distillerie is an independent bookstore and café located in Pont-l'Évêque, in the Calvados region. Housed in the premises of a former Calvados distillery, it offers a wide selection of books, regular cultural events, and a convivial tea room in the heart of a renovated industrial building.

For fifteen years, the Compagnie du Chameau has specialized in light-scale productions for two or three performers, primarily musical storytelling for young audiences (Gypsy Tales, The Wolf Man based on the story by Anne Jonas, Spells and Curses, Winter Tales, Tales of My Babushka, The King in Love and other Gourmet Tales...), but also shows for adults (a song performance, Les Nuzes, and two shows adapted from non-theatrical texts by living authors: Some Had Never Seen the Sea by Julie Otsuka and Panic in the Sixteenth by Michel Pinçon and Monique Pinçon-Charlot). These productions allow the company to reach an audience that rarely attends the theater and thus develop "intimate theater." With over 70 performances a year, Le Chameau tours extensively in the Île-de-France region, Provence, Corsica, Switzerland, Lebanon, and New Caledonia, and enjoys performing in venues as diverse as libraries, media centers, community centers, festivals like La Cour des Contes in Switzerland and Contes et Légendes in Marcq-en-Barœul, as well as theaters such as La Ferme du Buisson, the Théâtre de Suresnes, the NEC in Maisons-Alfort, the Atrium in Chaville, the CDN in Sartrouville, the Ville d'Avray Cultural Center, the Carré Belle Feuille in Boulogne-Billancourt, and the Salle Jean-Marie Tjibaou in Nouméa. The Compagnie du Chameau gives music a central role in its shows. Original musical compositions and works from the classical and traditional repertoire are performed live on stage. La Ferme du Buisson has selected two shows by the company for approximately ten performances as part of the 2021 L'Été Buissonnier festival. The company's shows explore themes of travel, motherhood, the desire for children, otherness, poverty, femininity, and the pursuit of happiness.
Béatrice Vincent has been an actress in the productions of the Compagnie du Chameau since its founding. For seven years, she was assistant director to Sylvain Maurice. From September 2021 to February 2022, at the Funambule Montmartre, and then at the Roseaux Teinturiers in Avignon in July 2023 and July 2024, she played Marie-France (the mother) in *Le Complexe de Dieu*, by Compagnie 172. She sings in an all-female trio, Les Nuzes, performing quirky and humorous covers of old French songs. For the past nine years, she has performed in shows directed by Anne Busnel as part of the Théâtre au Village festival in August, in Ille-et-Vilaine and Côtes-d'Armor (Topaze by Marcel Pagnol, Leonie est en avance by Feydeau, Twelfth Night by Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare). In 2023, she performed in an adaptation of Julie Otsuka's novel *Certaines n'avait jais vu la mer* at the Théâtre Essaïon in Paris, directed by Delphine Augereau, which is currently touring. She is performing in *Panique dans le seizième*, an adaptation of the graphic novel by Michel Pinçon and Monique Pinçon-Charlot, directed by Anne Veyry at the Théâtre Essaïon (Paris) in October and November 2024.
Sophie Piégelin turned to the toy industry after completing her fashion design training at ESMOD. Since 2001, she has worked as a freelance designer, pattern maker, and illustrator for manufacturers such as Berchet, Béaba, Oxybul, Ouaps, Baby to Love, and Ludi. Since 2005, she has used her knowledge of materials to design and create theater sets. She has created the set designs for several shows by Compagnie du Chameau: Le Makrout au Chocolat, Contes d’Hiver, L’Homme aux Loups, and Les Contes de ma Babouchka, as well as the costumes for Sortilèges et Maléfices and La Mer Divague. She also works as a set designer and visual artist for other companies, including L'étoffe des rêves, La compagnie simagine, and Le théâtre de la parole de Bruxelles. From 2006 to 2014, she honed her skills at the Fine Arts Workshops of the City of Paris, in drawing and painting, which are an integral part of her work, and to strengthen her experience in the performing arts, in September 2018 she attended the "practical scenography" training course, led by Olivier Borne at Atelier 231, CNAR in Sotteville-lès-Rouen.
Elisabeth Urlic began playing the cello at the age of 7, winning a first prize at the Aubervilliers Conservatory in 1992, followed by a grand prize at the Geneva Conservatory . It was in Paris that she began her professional career playing in various classical orchestras. At the same time, she explored other styles, notably world music. Deeply interested in the fusion of theatre and music, since 2005 she has created and performed shows for children with the Compagnie du Chameau (Gypsy Tales, Spells and Curses, The Wolf Man) and the company L’Étoffe des rêves (Hide and Seek). She met the Théâtre des Tarabates company in 2021 and participated in the show. She is a musician working in hospitals (Curie and Necker hospitals); since 2012, she has collaborated with the DEMOS project (a socially-oriented music and orchestral education program) of the Philharmonie de Paris and teaches at the conservatory of the 20th arrondissement of Paris on projects in schools and middle schools. Since 2018, she has also been involved in developing a string class in Cameroon at the Arbre à Musique school.
Sandrine Briard, actress and director, performs with the company simagine, which she co-founded with Isabelle Ben Soussan. The company's literary creations, its main artistic focus, are supported by the DRAC-Ile-de-France (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs) for the Book Economy. She performs with emerging young companies, tackling highly engaging and contemporary social themes, such as *Who Hacked GaroutzIA?*, written by three French artificial intelligence specialists and directed by Lisa Bretzner, or *Letters Without Shelter*, written and directed by Achille Jourdain, poignant monologues by homeless people. She also performs in lighter shows where she plays several characters in the same play, such as *The Clever Little Fish*, based on Rudyard Kipling and directed by Stréphan Ramirez, or *Beware of Morels*, a crime-themed aperitif by Laurent Bastien. In film, she starred alongside Michel Piccoli in Hiner Saalem's *The Roofs of Paris* and in Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache's latest film, *A Difficult Year*. She also recorded audiobooks of works by Anaïs Nin, Oscar Wilde, and Jules Verne.
