Alexandre Tharaud

There is a lot of talk during this festival about the painter Eugène Boudin, for obvious geographical reasons. It would be an inexplicable intuition that we could evoke, about the pianist Alexandre Tharaud, Raoul Dufy – another native of Normandy: the taut line, the electric sense of rhythm, the vigor of the colors without impasto.

The musician is at home on stage and he invites the audience to feel good in the company of the composers he has chosen. An Alexandre Tharaud recital means spending a real moment together, without ritual or constraint. First with Bach, transcribed for the piano by him, then in the familiar landscape of French music: the ink line of Satie, the subtle palette of Ravel – to whom he also lent his hands to the cinema in the recent Boléro by Anne Fontaine.
