Discovering “romance”, between song and opera

Let's imagine the music room of the Empress Joséphine transported to the Boudin museum in Honfleur. It is enough to lay a thick carpet on the Hungarian point parquet floor, to replace the painter's famous skies with the hangings of La Malmaison, to move back, always in thought, from impressionism under the young Third Republic to the nascent romanticism of the First Empire.

Here we are, invited into the circle of loved ones around Joséphine on her chaise longue. Valeria Kafelnikov would play the role of her daughter Hortense, harpist and composer of romances. Coline Dutilleul would then be one of the singers sought after among the best to sing the tender melodies and arias of French opera - and of some Italians because it is always a question of Italy when it comes to music...
