Concertos and overtures by Bach and Telemann
Bach's 5th Brandenburg Concerto
Organist in Saint-Louis-en-l'Île, sensitive to the objects of passing time, Benjamin Alard plays the clavichord at home and the harpsichords almost everywhere he finds them to serve Jean-Sébastien Bach. As a “subtle mind gifted with prudence” as they said of those from the Normandy countryside where he was born, he is a well-tempered keyboardist. Launched into the adventure of a complete Bach, he chose for the Promenades musicales du Pays d'Auge to play in concert with a few musicians from his “little band”. At the heart of a program featuring Telemann in Overture, Plaisirs and Angloise, there is the Fifth Brandenburg Concerto and its harpsichord cascade, clear as the light of the wedding hall of the Château de Canon.
