description

in detail

Written in 1931 by Cécile and Jean de Brunhoff – Madame told the story to her children, Monsieur drew the illustrations for the album – the first Babar in the series became, in the 1940s, a musical tale: Francis Poulenc improvised it on the piano to successfully entertain the household where he resides. For the families at the Château du Hameau Hauger, Théo Sarazin – the Norman child who became a super-soloist bassoonist at the Paris Opera – has made an arrangement for wind quintet. He will introduce us to his companions from the Opera and the actor-narrator whose voice will be familiar to some… Babar is almost a hundred years old, and you will see how popular the baby elephant who became a king is still in the digital age!

Welcome to the Hameau Hauger castle

COMPANY

The Hameau Hauger Castle, located in Amfreville, Normandy, was built at the end of the 18th century. Surrounded by a vast garden, it offers a peaceful and authentic setting. During World War II, it was a strategic location during the D-Day landings. The 9th British Parachute Battalion, after destroying the Merville battery at dawn on June 6, 1944, withdrew there to await reinforcements from Sword Beach. Today, the castle welcomes visitors with its charming guest rooms.
